Matrix server hosted on orangestar.dev

Hi! This is where the Matrix server for orangestar.dev, and associated utilities for that server, are hosted!

For more about what orangestar.dev is, go to the main orangestar.dev domain. (Spoiler, it's just my personal domain!

If you would like to sign up as a user on matrix.orangestar.dev, please read the following first:

• Don't do it! My email server is ALL kinds of fucked up right now and kernel panicking! Once that's fixed, this message will be gone and you'll know it.
• Don't do it! Unless I know you personally, I'll be really weirded out that you signed up for my service! You might get banned if I see you doing something sketchy or making my server overloaded!
• Don't do it! This server is not very powerful, and I don't have a ton of cash to throw aroud right now! Please don't make me have to beg for donations that I will just funnel to Digital Ocean!

If you read all that, and you still want to sign up, here's the deal:

• This site was going to host the Element client itself as well, but the element security notes say you shouldn't host the client and the server on the same domain in order to prevent XSS from malicious messages. Which is, uh, dumb? Like I understand the intention but why even give messages that much power, holy shit.
• So I decided the next best thing would be to redirect you to the official Element app with the homeserver prefilled in, but the ability to do that broke when the app was redesigned to use React and there's been no word that they'll bring it back for 3 years now. A pull request that was supposed to add the feature was closed for security concerns.

So here's what you're going to need to do:

1. Go to https://app.element.io.
2. Click "Create Account" when the website asks you to.
3. Where you see "Edit", click it.
4. In the box that appears, enter "matrix.orangestar.dev", then click "Continue"
5. Fill out the information that the client asks you for.

You should have a new account on the server almost immediately. See you there!
